Kazandzijsko alley – Kazandžijsko sokače is the last preserved street of the former Niš bazaar. At the beginning of the 19 century, it was a craftsman’s alley and until the last years of the 20th century, the old craftsman’s alleys were kept shops and several houses from the Ottoman period. They dominated among craft shops of Kazandžija, hence the name Kazandžija sokače. In Ottoman times, on the site of Kazandzhijski Sokaceta was the Sagr Cincar neighborhood, which represented the Turkish artisan quarter. That’s right in that part of Niš after liberation from the Turks, a specific business and trade area emerged quarter, with many Serbian craft shops, shops and cafes.
The improvement of the street at the end of the nineties of the 20th century brought about the opening of a large number of cafes and restaurants. This has become a favorite place for young people to go out and an interesting tourist attraction attraction. At least go for coffee and lemonade, or brandy, as Kalča and Stevan Sremac do right at the entrance. It is a monument that faithfully depicts the gathering of two friends with, of course, inevitable shot glasses.
