Giginski monastery and eco farm
For those wishing to visit the holy places in western Bulgaria, the Tsarnogorski Monastery “St. Cosmas and Damian” is a must stop. The monastery is located right above the village of Gigintsi. The road is well marked with signposts and starts from the center of the village. The monastery complex has been renovated and the area has been refined and maintained. In the well-arranged courtyard you can see an old and a new church, a small chapel with the miraculous icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary, climb the bell tower, and definitely go to the ayazmoto – the monastery spring with healing water. Everyone in the monastery is very kind. If you are tired, you can rest on a bench or the gazebo in the yard, and the hungry ones can visit the restaurant in front of the monastery, which offers ecologically clean food from the products that are grown in the garden and farm of the monastery complex. There is also a modern hotel section if you decide to stay for a few days. Volunteers are also accepted to help the monks and priests with the work in the garden. In July you can visit or be part of the annual celebration held there.
