Ruy Mount is а place where Bulgarians and Serbs unite in the international climbing of the peak, which is a summit of the mountain lovers.
The event is usually organized at the end of June. There are three starting points in Bulgaria – the villages of Zabel, Zelenigrad and Lomnitsa. The climbing takes about 3 hours, and it is a serious task due to the big denivelation – about 900 meters. It is good to know that the mountain slope is steep.
Guides are provided for the event by the Trần Tourist Association, but be aware that Ruy Mount is in the border area, so you should send advance notice to the Border Police.
On the way to the top, you can stop by the beautiful Zabel monastery “St. Dimitar” and the Ruy hut, where you can take a break from the road.
Climbing is challenging but worth the beauty of this incredible peak, breathtaking views and the emotions of the meeting of the two peoples.
