The Seven Rila lakes are one of those unique sites in Western Bulgaria that are a must on the map of every tourist who loves the beauty of nature. The lakes are part of the 100 national tourist sites of Bulgaria and are the most visited lake group by Bulgarian and foreign tourists. The beautiful brooks are located stepwise, listed from the lowest to the highest, as follows – Dolnoto, Ribnoto, Trilistnika, Bliznaka, Babreka, Okoto and Salzata. There is a legend about the origin of the lakes, related to a romantic story between two giants.Before Babreka Lake, the mountain guides show a huge rock, located in the direction of Salzata Lake, where you can see an enormous man and woman. The legend says that these are the figures of the two lovers who will remain to “guard” their beautiful home forever.
